The Flag was a band hailing from Ticino, Switzerland that performed over 200 shows across Switzerland and Northern Italy. Their first album, “BLUE NORTHER”, was released in 2006 with their previous lineup, while a new EP called “RULED BY APHRODITE” was published in May 2009, featuring four songs, including two originals: “Train” and “I’m Jealous”. “I’m Jealous” was included in the MX3 (vol.3) compilation released in September 2009 (with 10,000 copies printed). In July of the same year, the band won the “Best Live Performance” award at the “Battle of the Bands” (Cer.co Top Band) in Northern Italy. The icing on the cake for The Flag’s successful summer in 2009 was their appearance at Blues to Bop (www.bluestobop.ch), where they played three consecutive nights alongside great artists like Texas Johnny Brown and Ian Siegal. The band played at several festivals in 2010, including Vallemaggia Magic Blues, Open Air Palagnedra, Swiss Harley Days, and returned to Lugano’s “Blues to Bop” as the opening act. In 2010, they released their third album, “BLOO,” which ranked in Swiss Radio Rete Tre’s top ten for a month, reaching number one. In January 2011, the band performed at Samedan’s (GR) blues festival. In 2012, The Flag released their fourth album, “THE FLAG & FRIENDS FOR OTAF,” which was a charity album featuring both national and international artists like Eugenio Finardi, Leo Leoni, Sebalter, Vic Vergeat, Claudio Taddei, Maxi-B, Paolo Meneguzzi, Vad Vuc, and many others. The song “Stomp” by and with George Merk ranked in the Swiss Radio Rete Tre’s top ten for five weeks, reaching number two. During 2012, The Flag played at the Beatles Days festival (opening for Edoardo Bennato), the MAD club (Lausanne, opening for Sinplus), and participated in the Swiss Prix Walo competition, where they won second place. In 2013, the band continued to perform live, collaborating with Vic Vergeat (Bellinzona Blues Session) and Eugenio Finardi (The Flag ft. Eugenio Finardi Blues Tour). In 2014, The Flag released “UNCHAINED,” which they presented at a live showcase at Swiss Radio “Rete Tre” and later returned to the Beatles Days (Bellinzona) to play alongside “Biglietto per l’inferno” and “Eric Burdon & The Animals”.
